JEWISH COMMUNITY ORGANIZES WINTER COAT DRIVE

Jewish community organizations and agencies join with local elected officials, including Senator Frank Padavan and Councilman  James Gennaro, to kick off the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council's �Harmony initiative Winter Coat Drive,� Sunday, December 2, 2007, at at 11:30 a.m. at the Samuel Field Y, 58-20 Little Neck Parkway, announced Chairman Corey Bearak and President Jeff Gurdus of the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council (NEQJCC), which organized the program. The month long drive runs through December 21, 2007 and encourages donations of new and lightly used winder coats at collection points throughout northeast Queens, including the Y.

The largest regional Jewish community council in the Greater New York area, NEQJCC sponsors this program with the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty (�Met Council�), Samuel Field Y, Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation (a collection point), Yeshiva Har Torah (a collection point), Members of Congress Gary Ackerman (office a collection point), Anthony Weiner and Gregory Meeks, City Council Members David Weprin, James Gennaro, Leroy Comrie and Tony Avella, State Senators Frank Padavan and Toby Stavisky, and Assembly Members Mark Weprin, Ann-Margaret Carrozza, Barbara Clark and Rory Lancman.
