NEQJCC SETS INSTALLATION FOR JAN. 12; SERVICE AWARDS TO HOLTZMAN; DR. HONIG Corey B. Bearak will be formally installed as President of the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council [NEQJCC] at an �Installation Breakfast� and awards reception, Sunday morning, January 12, 1992. The installation, from 9:30 � 11:30 a.m. at Temple Sholom of Floral Park, 263-10 Union Turnpike, features �Guest of Honor� City Comptroller Elizabeth Holtzman, City Council Public Safety Chair Sheldon S. Leffler as �Installing Officer� and an award to NEQJCC Past President Arnold Dr. Honig for �Community Service.� In addition to Mr. Bearak, an attorney with experience in state and city government and a Member of Community School Board 26, the officers to be installed include First Vice President Marcia Federman, Second Vice President Gladys Rand, Recording Secretary Vita Barth, Corresponding Secretary Al Levy and Treasurer Anne Kirsch. The program, chaired by Joseph Varon, also includes selections by the Temple Sholom Choir and a Colorguard by Scout Troop 613 of the Young Israel of New Hyde Park. An association of community, education, fraternal and religious organizations, the NEQJCC covers the communities east of the Clearview Expressway and north of Jamaica Avenue. Its activities include sponsorship of political forums with major public figures such as Police Commissioner Lee Brown and New York Chief Judge Sol Wachtler, combating anti-Semitism, Jewish cultural events, an annual Health Expo, the welfare of newly arrived Soviet Jews, open discussions with local Rabbis, a Bikur Cholim Society, and representing the concernsof the northeast Queens community. -30-
