February 4, 1993 Hon. Bill Clinton, President Dear Mr. President: On behalf of the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council, a coalition of 30 synagogues and other Jewish fraternal and community groups, I write to express our community's deep concern about discussions before the United Nations to impose sanctions against the State of Israel following that sovereign nation's deportation of 400 Hamas terrorists. The NEQJCC strongly urges that you direct the United States' U.N. Delegate to veto any resolution critical of Israel's handling of this matter affecting its own security. To date, it appears that your administration supports Israel's strong and courageous stand in favor of peace and against terrorism. The NEQJCC strongly endorses and commends this position and urges you to remain steadfast in support of Israel, as you committed during your campaign. Enclosed is a letter from the Queens Jewish Community Council, with which our organization is affiliated and which further elaborates on our position. Thank you for your administration's efforts to date in support of Israel. The NEQJCC urges that you continue this policy. Sincerely, c. Queens Jewish Community Council -30-
