A coalition of state, city and Queens organizations will hold a forum on the need to pass legislation to stop bias-related violence, announced Corey Bearak, President of the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council (NEQJCC). "End Bias-Violence: Stop Hate Crimes" takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the NEQJCC member synagogue Bay Terrace Jewish Center, 209th Street and Cross Island Parkway. Every Queens State Legislator has been invited to indicated their commitment to pass this legislation. Light kosher Passover pastries will be served. Admission is free. The Forum features Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Rabbi Hyman Levine of Bay Terrace Jewish Center, Anti-Defamation League Associate Director Howie Katz, Intergroup Affairs and Community Concerns Director Rabbi Robert Kaplan of the Jewish Community Relations Council and State Senator Catherine Abate (27th District, Manhattan). The panel is moderated by Ed Sedarbaum, former chair of the New York State Hate Crimes Bill Coalition and Board Member of the Queens Coalition for Political Alternatives. In addition to the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council, Forum sponsors include the Anti-Defamation League, the Queens Coalition for Political Alternatives, New York State Hate Crimes Bill Coalition, the Queens Women's Political Caucus, the Flushing Jewish Community Council and the Jewish Community Relations Council.
