        Hillcrest Hadassah, including NEQJCC Vice President Ethel Levine, recently visited the oldest Jewish Cemetery in North America.  

        Located at Chatham Square and East Broadway in Manhattan, the cemetery was consecrated in 1682 by Congregation Shearith Israel.  

        The synagogue was established by 23 Jews who settled here in 1624.

        Among those buried in the cemetery are 18 Jewish patriots and soldiers who fought in the American Revolution.
