Photos of Northeast Queens Vice Presidents Corinne Steel and Ethel Levine and delegate Jeff Berzon led a group of several hundred marchers - considerably more than last year at the Salute to Israel Parade that ran from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on 5th Avenue, from 57th to 79th Streets, Manhattan. This year's theme, "Israel - The reel deal." Watch this site for additional posts and narratives. I posted this text as a comments (responding) to a Jewish Week editorial suggesting a lack of participation in the parade by non-Modern Orthodox Jews: "An association of synagogues and other religious, education, fraternal and community organizations that runs the gamut from Reform to ultra-Orthodox and everything in between, the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council (NEQJCC) was proud to again include a contingent of synagogues that marched in the Salute to Israel Parade. Since most members of our Orthodox congregations participate through local Yeshivot, our contingent generally includes (but not exclusively) members from Conservative and Reform schuls. Our council covers Bay Terrace, Bayside, Bellerose, Douglaston, Floral Park, Fresh Meadows, Glen Oaks, Hillcrest, Holliswood, Hollis Hills, Jamaica Estates, Little Neck, New Hyde Park, Oakland Gardens and Queens Village (north)." - Corey Bearak Below is the Award, NEQJCC, received from the Salute to Israel
